Welcome to the Community Unitarian Universalist Church
Nurture your spirit. Heal our community.
Services begin at 10:30 am every Sunday morning.
Come join us in person or by Zoom.
Who Are We?
We are a people of faith with open minds, loving hearts and helping hands. CUUC has been a part of the Tri-Cities since 1948, helping families explore world religions, human diversity, ethics and responsible living. We keep our minds open to the religious questions people have struggled with in all times and places. We believe that personal experience, conscience, and reason should be the final authorities in religion. In the end, religious authority lies not in a book, person, or institution, but in ourselves. CUUC’s services and programs support each person’s life-long growth and spiritual learning. Come as you are. Come as who you are. We are a Welcoming Congregation. Our differing strengths and gifts join to form a caring and vibrant church.

february worship services
February 1, 10:30 am
"Return Again... and again and again"
Regina McConaghy with Loraine Bottorff and youth musicians
We aspire to live our values. And we all have times when we fall short of our aspirations and break the promises we make to ourselves and to our communities. How does our Unitarian Universalist practice of covenant help us embody resilience and return again (and again) to Love? This worship experience will include many invitations to move your body, and hopefully, move your heart and mind as well! This service is not available on zoom.
February 8, 10:30 am
“Contemplating Wonder”
Matt Smith with Joan Gray musicians Mike Truex and Shannon Hays-Truex
What is the most precious ability we possess, justifying our living ? How can we understand and nourish a sense of wonder? What stands in our way of doing so? I hope to pose these and other questions in the Sunday Service (and, hopefully, some possible answers) with a follow-up discussion in the Middle Earth Room for those interested. This service is available on zoom.
February 15, 10:30 am
“Bear Witness: Save Lives”
CB Beal with Virginia Tomlinson and the CUUC Choir
CB will share story and reflections about the spiritual practice of bearing witness, a vital part of Beloved Community. We must be able to trust that people will be still and bear witness to us, acknowledge, and accept what we share. We become trustworthy as we are present with one another with curiosity, acceptance, and empathy that honors our different life experiences. This service is available on zoom.
CB Beal received the Unitarian Universalist Association’s 2019 Angus H. MacLean Award for Excellence in Religious Education. Before consulting full-time, CB served as Director of Religious Education at the Unitarian Society of Northampton and Florence for 16 years after holding education and training positions in adjacent fields. CB received a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary in New York in 1991. CB is a white, trans non-binary/genderqueer, queer, neurodivergent, fat person. We are excited that CB can join us through Zoom from Northampton, Massachusetts.
February 22, 10:30 am
“Preemptive Radical Inclusion”
CB Beal with Virginia Tomlinson and musician Matt Smith
In this second service with us, CB will share stories and reflections on the framework of Preemptive Radical Inclusion (PRI) as an entryway to increase equity and justice among ourselves and in the world; a way we embody Beloved Community. This service is available on zoom. Learn more about CB in the February 15 service description.
