July 6, 10: 30 am: Celebrating Interdependence
Regina McConaghy, Virginia Tomlinson, Joan Gray and musician Ellen Fillion
On July 4th, the USA celebrates the Declaration of Independence, our forefathers' statement of intention to liberate the 13 colonies from British rule. Now in the 21st century, Unitarian Universalists acknowledge that our spiritual liberation is dependent on accepting and nurturing our interdependence. Join us for a worship of playful exploration of some of the ways in which we are truly never alone on this planet.
July 13, 10:30 am: Atheism & On Being an Atheist
Dave Anderson and others, with Virginia Tomlinson & musicians Joan Gray and Hollis Bredeweg
Join us for multiple perspectives on being an Atheist as a Unitarian Universalist and in our larger community. It’s tempting to call this service, “Why did the Atheist go to church?” but it’s not a joke. UU’s bring a variety of beliefs to any congregation, and this is an opportunity to learn from our atheist brothers and sisters.
July 20, 10:30 am: Letting Your Feet Spread
Hollis Bredeweg, Alex Emig and musician Ken Rayment
Connecting the dots between a childhood game, Sally’s shoe shopping, an analysis of American corporate management practices, and the State of Community Unitarian Universalist Church.
July 27, 10:30 am: “The Tree of Life”
Joan Gray and others, with musician Fran Handy
From the Baobab tree in parts of Africa, to the World tree in Norse beliefs. From the Bodhi tree of Siddartha Guatama, to the trees of the indigenous peoples of turtle island. A tree has figured into enlightenment in many cultures. This service will explore The Tree of Life or World Tree across time and culture.
